Large redemptions of hedge funds by institutions accelerated in the third quarter of 2016. Up until June, redemptions had totaled $16 billion for the year. In the third quarter alone, redemptions totaled over $28 billion. Institutions continue to cite poor performance and high fees as the two primary reasons for withdrawing capital.
